AI Eye – Cointelegraph Magazine

In 2022, there was an abundance of excitement surrounding “the virtual realm,” with billions being invested into the field. Although lacking substance and user engagement at that time, the narrative was largely forgotten in 2023 as enthusiasts eagerly embraced the AI movement.

However, generative AI is emerging as a potentially innovative method for users to construct the virtual realm themselves — by ‘virtual world,’ we refer to digital environments where creators possess a portion of the economy through blockchain and NFTs.

AI empowers non-artists to produce visuals, allows non-programmers to script applications, and essentially provides anyone with a creative concept the opportunity to contribute to the creation of fresh worlds and gaming experiences.

That was AI Vision’s concept for a prominent report in September of the prior year. Despite conducting interviews with leading figures such as Sebastian Borget (The Sandbox) and Illia Polosukhin (Near) regarding AI’s role in constructing the virtual realm, the article did not gain traction as it was more of a theory than a reality at that time.

Though it is premature to label it as a confirmed tendency, the gaming metaverse Alien Worlds is determined to materialize the idea.

An adventurous game blending elements of “Dune” and cyberpunk, and attracting 50,000 daily participants since its inception in 2021 by primary contributor Dacoco, it comprises of six decentralized autonomous organizations (DAOs) of tokenholders dubbed Planetary Syndicates who vie for a portion of the enigmatic element called Trilium (a token, TLM).

The digital cosmos is unified through world-building narrations penned by Kevin J. Anderson, author of Dune sequels, and Dacoco states that a large portion of the artwork — from the extraterrestrial races to the infrastructures, vehicles, and terrains — were created with the aid of AI applications like Midjourney.

“We are leveraging AI to assist in creating a significant portion of the narratives, visuals, texts. This is all based on the initial concept we developed with Kevin J. Anderson. Our goal is to accomplish this swiftly and on a large scale,” elucidates Kevin Rose, the chief marketing officer of Dacoco.
